The strange places on the map, and the reasons behind them.
Short videos about borders that make no sense, towns on the wrong side of a line, and the deals, maps and mistakes that put them there. One place and one reason per video, in about a minute.
Every script is researched from primary and scholarly sources and checked, line by line, against them before anything is recorded. The narration and the animation are produced with AI tools; a person reviews and approves every video before it is posted. The maps are drawn from US Census Bureau and Natural Earth data, and the photographs and scans are credited on screen.
The sources behind each video are listed on the sources page.
